Working on putting together a 960 bean head for my tr70 - it has the flex sickle bar put in which is either an aftermarket or NH kit. Everything is going good until I get to where the sickle bar attatches to the drive box and how to cover it as the cutter bar sits about 1 foot further in front of where it would have been if left rigid. I'm pretty sure all the parts are there but would like to see some pictures. any help would be appreciated - thanks

I have a 960 head with a Love bar for my 1400- sounds like what you're putting together. I get along OK in oats, (unless they're short- don't feed in as well- pile up on the cutter bar) but after breaking 2 new sickles in 2 years, (about 70 acres of oats, 20 of beans) I've decided to either quit growing beans, hire them combined, or find a true flex head. Having the sickle that far in front makes it VERY difficult to feed short crops, and easy to run the reel teeth into the sickle. You loose a LOT of beans. In short, I've developed a strong dislike for this head/sickle setup. There are shields that cover the area that you're refering to that are part of the kit. I don't have any pictures right now, but if I can get the new software on our computer figured out, I'd be willing to send some to you. Send me an email withyour email address, and I'll see what I can do.
