I took off from work 2 hours early and went up to Austin Salvage at Butler,MO and took some pictures.

The Emporia, KS area. From there on west you can still find stuff sitting on farms. From there on east the pickings are mighty slim.

Geesh....so just what is the deal here, with all these poor, old combines in a salvage yard? Is this Austin guy going to whack them or what? Honestly, being rare as they are, there's no real parts/salvage value to them at all. Instead, they should be either restored by Mr. Austin or at least sold to someone who will restore them!

Nuts, The Austins (Joe and Mark) are collectors themselves and have lots of old AC tractors-implements-AC 40 combine, etc. They will gladly price anything thats not in their collection.I buy parts from them all the time.

They will not junk or part out anything that is collectable. They have sat on lots of stuff for years waiting for a buyer while other yards would have junked it.They have been in the business all their lives as was their late Dad Arnie. They are AC and Gleaner specialists and thats what they mostly salvage.

Just a couple of years ago they sold a nice 100 AC SP combine to a collector in Tenn. They recently sold a nice 40 JD SP combine to a collector.

Well that IS good news, 1206. I'm glad they are not just out to rid the world of heritage machinery.
