As you can see it hung over the right side 4 ft but caused no problems as I concentrate 100% on my driving.

This is a heavy combine weighing 77700 lbs so I had all that we needed on the trailer and pickup.

In 140 miles of driving the back roads yesterday I saw no combines older than 1964.The old ones are about all gone in this area. You guys in wheat country dont know how lucky you are!

Oops,I meant 7700 lbs!!

By the way we always run an escort car (91 Buick Regal) behind the trailer with the flashers on.

I'm working on getting something better to haul combines with.I already have the pickup but havent found the trailer I want yet.

Blaine, our CIH dealer took a 7x7 3/8s toolbar, cut it 9' and welded hubs for 10 hole Budd wheels at either end. The rest of the toolbar was used for the hitch, with 5x3 tubing used as gussets to either side. Then an 8' wide cradle was mounted on a semi-turntable made of a 6" pin. This allows it to turn pretty good, similar to a car dolly. They use this to pull dead combines and pickers backwards, but small combines should fit going forward, eliminating the need to disconnect the finals or trusting rotted drive tires. Good luck and thanks for the pics and stories. Tom

Tom, I bet that would work good on a combine like we hauled home yesterday but it would have had to been 10' wide to pull it facing forwards.

I dont suspose there are very many old combines left in your part of Mississippi?

Sadly, no. 30 years ago, there were roundback JDs on tracks everywhere, along with 403 and 503 IHs, a few Gleaners and Olivers and 4-510 MFs everywhere. There's a strong scrap iron dealer in Greenwood and there's no telling how much old and rare farm machinery wound up there. Tom
