Well I closed the deal on the JD 95H Hillside Combine yesterday. I now have 6+ inches of snow on the ground and more falling so it will be a while before I can get it home! The Ser# is 37788H which I belive is a 66-67 and the drive wheel base is 12 ft accross, rear steering wheel base is 10 ft accross. The Combine Cutter is 19 ft accross so it is pretty big in size. Long ways up the ladder around the walkway to get in the cab. The engine compartment and underneith is pretty oil free for a old combine that has not been cleaned! I think it is the 303 Gas Engine and is not a flat head. Take a look at the pictures if you want. Don"t know much about them but mechs look good to me not much rust and a neat peice of equipment! It has updated screens and a Aluimum Paddels instead of the older wood ones. Any closer manufacture date by the serial number then my guess? Does the engine look like the 303 to you? I need to get a manual for it to learn more how it works. It is feild opperational right now and runs great with out smoke. The engine was rebuilt a while back. Mark H.

Wow! That thing is neat. It would be really nice to see that thing operate. If you get a chance to take it out and drive it around post some pictures so we can get a view of it on hillside. You have a really nice find, enjoy!! bill

I want to see it tilt also. There are 8 ft hydraulic cylinders on the sides of the front axles to tilt with. The rear axle pivots and the guy who owned it told me it can tilt allmost 45 degs! I have plenty of hills on my place to test the tilt on and plan to get some pictures when the snow is gone. I have about 12-18 inches in the feilds right now so it would be hard to do now. I will tilt it once where it will be parked for a picture when I get it home. I have to wait till the roads are clear again. Mark H.

What is the HP Rating of the 303 Gas. I am watching for a 95H Hillside Manual on EBay now. What year is the Ser# 37788H I can't seem to find a place that tell this on the net. Thanks, Mark H.

My book makes serial no. 37788, a 1967 combine. The engine should be a HC-303-G, rated at 100 horsepower, at 2500 RPM. There were different horse power ratings for the 303, for different applications.

Yes I am in Eastern Washington just outside of Okanogan around 60 miles South of Canada. They use lots of Hillsides to harvest wheat here. Not sure why I bought it but it may be because it is a neat peice of equipment just to own! PS this snow storm/high winds were having is sure messing things up to get it home soon! Mark H.

The pictures were taken where it is sitting 12 miles from my home. I will drive it there as soon as the roads are clear and dry. It is safe no trees around it and I have a nice gravel area to put it on if the ice goes away and it can make it up my drive way!! Darn thing is as wide as the whole dirt road getting to my place! Here is a picture of the Engine. Does look pretty clean to me since the farmer never cleaned it befor I got a chance to take the picture. Can you tell if it is the 303 Engine by the picture? Mark H.

It's a John Deere, not Hercules, engine. I cannot tell the size. I take it from the nature of your prior posts here, you are not a farmer or at least don't have crops to harvest with a combine.

I do hope you have a shed or barn to keep this magnificent creature in. Yes, the J.D. 95H's are getting scarcer by the year. Even if you don't have any crops to run in, one thing that will really keep that old combine happy, is to get up on some slopes and grades, just for joyriding. That's exactly what theis one is made for.

I have 40 acres but pasture cows on it along with a few horses. The land is not right for wheat due to the soil make up. I do have some hills and can't wait to get it home and the snow to be gone. I have no idea what to do with it? Part it, sell it, play with it or just save a working one and see what happens. Sure takes a big building to store it in so it may just be tarps for a while. My Semi Truck "Water Tender" allready got a new building this year. Mark H.

After not being able to find pictures myself of one I decided to at least put a bunch up for others to see one. I will be looking for a new owner after I have fun with it and detail it out for any hidden problems. It would be a shame to part a good working one. Shipping something this big is a problem. The wheel base alone is 12 ft wide not counting the 19+ ft wide cutter! It would have to go to a local if it was sold complete. I just could not turn it down and allways like big equipment. Mark H.

Oh for pity's sake, DON'T just part it! Yes, that is a fine find and one truly worthy of keeping. If you later don't want it, at least sell ONLY to a good home, and NOT to anyone for just the engine, scrap or a demolition derby.

I will have all winter to learn all I can about it. I also will be investigating the value of keeping it whole for some one who may want it that way. I just don't realy know what to do with it yet now that I have it. I can afford to just keep it also for the heck of it. Makes a nice Lawn Orniment to decorate the Ranch with and still be a working one. Mark H.
