Was combining corn back in the hilly part of my land today. I had a full load in the bin on my 303 combine, I have always been careful with this, but a wheel went into a small ditch and my combine upset! I"m ok, but I was wondering if someone could tell me how to get my machine back up again. Do I need to have a big wrecker like the kind they use for trucks to get this thing back up? It fell on the side that has the unloading auguer, and from what I can tell is that other than the auger being damaged, everything else is ok.

I have been thinking about getting another good used combine the last few years. I farm 160 acres, and although my 303 has been faithful to me, parts are getting very hard to get. Looks like I have no choice now but to get a replacement. I still want to do my own harvesting.

Have you gotten it back up yet? Have you got any farmer buddies? Maybe some with bigger equipment. We"ve used a backhoe to unstick ours and I"d sure be tempted to call for one if I turned one over. Glad you"re ok. BHTN

Glad to hear you're o.k. We've been through this, too. Grandpa turned over our MF 300 in the fall of '87 under similar circumstances. We used our Ford 8000 and our Case 1030 to slowly pull the combine back upright. Worked just fine. Good luck to you and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Sorry to hear about the 303 tipping over. You might look in to getting a 715 IH to replace the 303.

Many years ago while shelling corn my neighbor fell into a ditch with his round back 55 JD and tipped it over.He fixed it up and used it several more years before he got a 300 MF.

Wrecker will be the cheapest money you spend .I have been there.Get the grain completely out of grain tank. You cant beat the slow steady pull of a winch. What part of the country are you in

I hate driving top heavy machinery in hills like that. I'm glad you're ok. If it were me, I'd get 2 big tractors, one with a loader. I'd hook up the loader on the top side of the combine as it's laying there with a chain, and hook a chain on the top of the right side of the combine and hook it the the other tractor. lift the top of the combine with the loader tractor as high as you can, then pull with the other tractor thats hooked high on the right side, to pull it over upright. besure to pull slow, you don't want to pull it over on the other side, also you might have to unhook the loader before the combine gets completely upright, as you might run out of lift height. Any way that's how I'd do it if I ever tipped over my JD 55.
