The little notches on the fiber disk either broke off or wore off on my Massey F. 550. This is the clutch that runs the actual combine components. This clutch is the same as a Massey 410 and 510. Has anyone ever pulled this big pulley/clutch off to replace the fiber disk and the 2 tapered bearings inside of it????? I do have the big pulley off. With the pulley off it looks as if there is some kind of colar on the shaft, then a nut and a special locking washer. Then the first steel plate can come off followed by the fiber disk. Any ideas will be appreciated inregards to replacing this disk followed by tightening up the tapered bearings which allow the pulley to free wheel on the shaft correctly. I do know that too tight causes the bearings to heat up and distroy themselves. To loose causes the pulley to wobble thereby wearing the tabs on the clutch disk. Does the pulley just go right back on???? Can you put the clearance in the bearings without a dial micromenter????? ? Thank you.
