We just upgraded to a newer IH combine and will be parting out the old 615. Runs like a top and has not seen alot of acres. Anyone who might be interest, please let me know. I may even let the entire machine go if the offer is right.

I put an ad in the largest WI ag newspaper and have not received any calls yet. Hate to see it go to the local steel man for scrap. Just don't seem to find much interest. Maybe there's a market on Ebay.

Mike, you still haven"t tried the Hotline. That paper really does cater to a lot of smaller growers.

Hey, so what if it doesn"t sell for what you want. Is there any real problem with just hanging onto it for a while? It"s not like you have to keep feeding it, geesh!

OK, I will try the hotline, however, it does take up space in the shed that could be used for other equipment. Also, keep in mind that the winters up here are not too kind to equipment that sits outside where the snow will melt and then freeze again. There is another concern, the cost of trucking a unit over a long distance. It cost me 1,400 to get my newer unit up here from Indiana. I just turned down a truck purchase from Kansas because the cost of hauling was more than 1/2 the cost of the truck. I appreciate the encouragement, but .... It's just a shame that with low hours, the parts aren't going to a home somewhere.

Mike, I understand your dilemma. It just so happens I live in Kansas. If I had the money to buy that combine--believe me, I would! That way, you could split the fuel cost between your combine and that truck you want to buy down here.

Before you give up, please e-mail me. I have a good friend on this very forum who also collects combines and lives only about 65 miles from me. Maybe you and he could work out the hauling issue.

Yes, I hate to see the poor 615 kicked out of the shed. She will only die for sure unprotected from nature. Still, to deliberately whack her, would be like shooting one of our few remaining whooping cranes!

Maybe something can be worked out in the 615"s favor.

i hate to hear of things like this . i know not everything be saved , but some of it needs to be just so those after us know why things have done . maybe it isn't practical to use them as being slow and finding parts when something breaks . i would think someone on small acres would jump on something like this . my uncle used to have an oliver 25 combine that he did his work with then would do custom work with it had a 2 row corn head .

If it runs "like a top" then why scrap it?

Dont part it out.615's arent that plentiful.

Try and find a farmer or collector that will give it a good home.It deserves that.

Hold on, Mike! Don"t be so hasty just to wreck such a rare old combine! Geesh! Please consider running an ad in one of the eastern editions of Fastline or even the Farmers Hotline. Both reach the smaller-acreage growers.

Just because you are upgrading to a larger machine, does not mean the little IH 615 should have to die!

I know that a 615 might be too small for a lot of areas now, but there is still a demand for good, older combines in areas with smaller farms and/or livestock (not cash crop)farms. If you're not too far away, it might sell in northern WI. What would you have to have for it?

My location is central WI just outside of Rosholt. As for an asking price, I don't know what to ask. I do know that if the offer is not reasonable, I do have an extra irrigation pump that I can hook the engine up to. The only head I have is an 810 grain head which is either 13 or 15 feet wide. The combine has not seen alot of acres but it does need new seals on the threshing area. Apparently mice like to chew on the rubber seals. Cab has all glass with blower. No air on this one. Hope this helps
