We picked up a used NH model 851 round baler yesterday for next to nothing and I got most of it working just fine in no time. I'm not very familiar with them and would like some help figuring out a couple things. First is how the two arms that guide the twine are supposed to work. I had it rolling, pulled the lever forward on the right side and they just sit there. No movement. The machanism is turning on the right when I pull the lever but the arm coming out of the gearbox there that those two arms are attached to isn't. I really don't know much about round balers at all so any help would be appreciated. I also need to get a new gauge wheel for the right side. Those are about the only two problems with it that I can find. Today my son is gonna grease it real well and oil all the chains and I hope to have it running next time my hay is ready. Thanks, Dan

Dan,

If it has two twine arms, it almost sounds like an electric auto wrap.

Don't see many of those in the 851 model. You really need to get a manual for that thing.

I hoped it wasn"t an electric model. Something is missing in that area that had a wire running to it. I bet that will be a fun piece to find.

Do you have a picture of this bird?

It would sure make it a lot easier to put a finger on the problem area.
