I'VE RAN ACROSS AN 1988 OR 89 JD TITAN II, WITH NEW MODEL FLEX HEADER AND CORN HEADER AS WELL. HAS SPARE FRONT TIRES AND SPARE REAR AXLE. NOT SURE ON THE HOURS BUT LOOKS GOOD. ALWAYS KEPT IN SHED AND A 2ND OWNER MACHINE. DEPENDING ON HOURS DOES $35000.00 SOUND CLOSE.

If this is an extremely low hour combine, and the heads are the same age as the combine, then the price might not be as bad as you think. Odds are this combine didn't get used more than about a hundred hours a year with that acreage, so that would make it approximately a 1700 hour machine. (The newest it could be is a 1988 model.) If the 643 corn head was the same age it would be worth around $5000-7000 in my area (Missouri) and if the head was a 900 series it would be worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $5000 if it had a teardrop reel and more if it was a later 900 with the pipe reel. Low hour 7720's are getting very hard to find. All this being said, if the combine has had a lot of beans, milo or other abrasive crop run through it odds are the augers and chains are about ready to be replaced the first time and lots of money can be spent there. For just a little more an older 9500 could be purchased that will do more and make it easier on the operator. I have seen basic low-hour 7720's (separator only) bring $35,000 and up at sales but that was usually an estate sale of someone well thought of in the neighborhood and selling a reputation machine. Sometimes these are good deals and sometimes they are not. Look it over carefully and do it with your eyes open. Any combine can have money spent on it quickly if you look hard enough. Hope this helps. Mike

How big is the corn head-4,6,or 8? If it is a good 6 row head with poly those can go for $5-$8k in our area. Bean platform probably not worth a whole lot-1-2k.

I have seen good TII's go for 15-25k depending on condition.

So if you add that up and if it is in good condition coming off a small farm you may be in the ballpark. I don't think it is a super deal but it is hard to find those machines that aren't really worn and needing 5-10k in repairs. So if you found a good runner and they are selling it for some other reason than a problem you might have a good find.

What part of the country are you in and what are the hours on the machine? It seem's combines bring more the farther north you go.

7720 Titan 11 is an owfully good machine, but that price seems a bit high in my opinion.$25,000 sounds about right to me if its a cherry.

You wouldn"t be able to touch a nice one for less than $30,000 with heads around here. Especially since many farmers in PA are looking for them. They don"t like rotary straw and new conventional combines, if you even could still get one, are not within their budget because they can"t put enough acres through it. Lots of us back east are in this predicament. Can"t be without a combine, because there are no custom operators to hire, but can"t get enough acres to use a new machine efficiently. The corn belt this ain"t, and as such we are ignored.
