robert, we have a 52r and is it great to run! if you can find old swather canvases at farm sales you can cut those down and narrow them to fit, the connection can be put together like an all crop allis canvas(bolted). buy that sucker if it is restorable, even though not terribly rare they quit making em! good luck, russ

If you know how it was made and was just the canvas, you can actually fabricate a new one with little effort and cost.

Canvas with pieces of wood going a cross. Can you buy the canvas all ready made.

I have never bought one, but the Legge Corp. (do a google search) I understand can get them for you. Also, there are some Amish shops that will make combine/binder canvases.

Russ, tell us about your 52R. Is it a tanker or bagger, and is it PTO drive or does it have a power unit?

Al

Parts are not impossible. I have been able to get most of my belts from caseIH. The two big main drive belts may be NLA now but you can find something at an autoparts store that will work. By "curtain," do you mean the canvas apron behind the cutterbar? Tell us about the combine. Is it a sacker or tanker? If tanker, is it a square grain tank or round. PTO drive or does it have a power unit?

As to whether or not you should buy it, for $25, absofreakinlutely!!! If you wanted to sell parts off it, you would make your $25 and a lot more just off of me! I have two 52R's and a 42R, they're a lot of fun and not too hard to work on. :)
