Some auction sales in Saskatchewan this spring have old combines from the 50's and 60's for auction. I find Gleaners, Case, JD; so far no IH or MF. Darald

Wow, nice sale. True there are still a few old SP combines in this country (Saskatchewan) although a lot have already gone to the scrap. Theres an 82 MF not far from me that hasn't run for years. Plus the 60 MH on my farm. The 26 and 27 on my brother's farm. I see a field ready Super 92 coming up for auction near here in April too. And for another big sale with old combines check this one.

Rusty, Thats one huge sale at Davidson,SA.I'd seen it mentioned on Redpower a couple of days ago.The owner is 90 yrs old and must have went to alot of farm sales to gather up that much stuff.I'd love to go to it if it wasnt so far away.

The farther north you go it seems like the more older combines there are.Theres just not much 1950's stuff left in my area.

Interesting your comment about 1950s machinery. I use a few of them on my farm. Recently I took an inventory of vehicles and equipment that is used on my farm and came up with an average age of 29 years. Not sure how that compares to the average farm.

Certainly your chances of an old combine are much better in Western Canada rather than here in the East. Fewer combines were sold in the east. The climate here is much more moist, requiring shed space to slow rust. Now, even 20 and 100 series greenies and AXIES showing rust if stored outside. In these parts I know of no working combines older than late 715s or 100 Deeres. Not even MF510s or AC F,M,or L. These girls were worked hard, often put up wet. Father time and changing agr. practices made them valueless. Mr. Torch was the Grim Reaper. I can not even find a 91 for you, and there were tons of them sold. A couple of Massey 35s still exist in the fencerows. They are few and far between amd I am sure that they are all rotton with rust. Back in 1971, I bought a Ford F100. By 1973, the inner fenders were pierced, and the rust was starting on the body. Any farm machine not indoors here has a very short life..... QR..

Well I live in Northwest Saskatchewan and I know of a Massey 72 pull type, several 92's, an 80, a really old MM - 1930's? even see the odd massey 17. Quite a few threshing machines lying around too, but they are disappearing,
