Does an R Gleaner SP look just like an A Gleaner combine?Whats the difference between the two? They both use the same operators manual.

The Grain Harvesters book says it was built from 1951-61 and was the last raddle combine.

I dont have original sales literature for the R Gleaner and cant say that I have ever really seen one.If I did I must have thought it was an A.

Model A Gleaner had straw walkers. Model R Gleaner used a raddle for separation in lieu of walkers.

Thanks Nuts.OK,all Gleaners had raddle chains back then.Did the R have an even longer raddle chain than the A to replace the lack of straw walkers?I've never seen the inside of an R Gleaner.Anyone on here own one?

Our 1966 E Gleaner had wooden slats on the raddle chain and we broke quite a few of them when shelling corn.I got pretty good at replacing them.

There were only two A Gleaners in the neighborhood. One was a late 1950's and the other was a 1964.

I have seen the guts of an R... basically after the grain comes off the front raddle, the straw, ect passes through the first air blast and onto a second raddle until it's discharged out the back.

I think that most ( if not all) of the Gleaner Baldwin pull types had raddles instead of walkers. Seems to me if the any grain didn't fall out when it went from the front raddle to the rear/shoe area, the last raddle would just let it ride on out.

I did talk to an old man that ran an R and said that the Raddles worked better in milo than walkers.
