How much of a capacity increase did you get going from the 7700 to the 9500 in corn? What cornheads (# of rows) did you run on each machine? Thanks.

We got a liitle bit of a capacity increase. The 9500 allows us to move a little faster, but the 7700 is a large capacity machine too. I guess the problem with answering this question is that we never had a problem with capacity with the 7700 so I'm not sure exactly how much we gained with the 9500. We are still 38" rows so we run a 444 4 row wide head and 216 flex platform. The 7700 played with these heads and so does the 9500. Both the 7700 and the 9500 would handle up to an 8 row corn head and a 20 ft platform. It just gets spendy trying to upgrade everything at once.
An 8 row narrow planter is hopefully in the works in the next couple of years.

How fast did you run your 7700 with your 444? I know you didn't have a speedometer but what gear and what # on the hydro. lever?

I have a 7700 that is turned up a bit-runs about 200hp. With 643 head I run between 3 and 4 in 3rd gear. Usually between 3.2 and 3.7mph in 175bu corn.

With AgLeader Monitor I watch the flow more than the actual speed. I have found it runs best around 1300-1500 bushel per hour.

I am sure you could safely run that 4 row head well over 3mph.

How much do you do in beans. Here in NCKS, our beans are running from 45 to 60. We take 7 thirty inch rows and run in 2nd gear and about 6 on the hydro. In 130 bu corn, we run wide open in 2 with a six row head. Thanks for the input.

Will let you know in a couple days, I haven't cut any beans witht this machine yet but am planning to start Sat afternoon.

I only have a 216 head so will only be taking 6 rows-would like to have 18 or 20 and run slower-but not sure 18-foot is really going to buy me much on 30" rows unless I am running at an angle.

From what I understand talking to previous owener they ran row crop heads and went pretty fast-but he felt the row crop head fed a lot more evenly and that with platform and that how much they bunch up will be my limiting factor.

My beans are pretty dry now so hopefully with few green stems I can run 3-4 mph?

Gosh, it's been awhile since I ran it, but if memory serves me, it was 2nd gear and never over 3 mph. When we put the 444 on the 9500 I switched the sprockets on the head to speed it up and now we 4.5-5 mph. I'm sure the combine would take it faster and the other one would have too, but I don't like to really push things, just keep it full so that it threshes well.

That's about what we were running(4.5-5.0mph). Although our corn wasn't very good. The best corn we got into this year made around 80bpa. Most of it was around 50bpa. and some was only 30bpa. and lying flat on the ground.
