I have an old Colby (wondering when they were made?) running gear I put 185/60x14 tires on it so it's low profile. I'd like to make a transport for a 13-15' MF bean head. Any suggestions appreiciated, Thanks....Lee

Lee, I have literature from '50 and '53 on the Coby Company. My Grandad bought a new Coby in '49, probably the best, most expensive wagon made then. I have 2 Coby 21-As, they are the "tapered" frame design, 7' x 14' flat with removable sides, also have a 31-A which is a self contained hyd dump wagon, powered by a PTO pump/cylinder built into the frame. If yours has a conventional gear, it'd be a 11-A, 3 ton capacity. they were products of the Perfection Steel Body Company. John

B-in-law has two header carts for his rotor Case that are nothing more than older light duty wagon gears with $100 worth of lumber and bolts added. The back of the grainhead rests against the bed standards already on the bolsters. I think I have the name right "standards" The metal tabs that are on any running gear to bolt a bed to? On the opposite side we a bolted a treaded 4x8 to raise the front up to the angle of the head. Took about 1 hour to "build" The gear for the cornhead has an extra plank added on top of the 4x8 to get the angle right. A picture might help my lousy discriptions, post if you want me to take some pics.

I have a unit I built that I would sell you, I used it for a 15ft jd head. Als there are kits available that would be very reasonable also look in any farm magazine, the name escapes me right now thou, but like I said I do have a unit that would work for you. It just sets onto any wagon running gear. I don't need anymore.$100.00 or three hundred for gear and all.
