Have a 1981 F2 Gleaner diesel. Have a 15 ft floating header but it's shot, so I came across a 13 ft floater in much better shape which I bought for $100.00. Don't get me wrong, head is in ok shape, owner had an F2 that burned up, so he didn't need it. My question is, will a 13 ft keep an F2 very full? Have a K that has 13 foot which handles it fine. You'd think an F2 would cruise with a 13 ft. right? Thanks.

Since you are talking about a FCB, I assume you are combining soybeans. A 15 foot head takes six 30 inch rows, a 13 foot takes five rows. Throughput of the machine is the same, so theoretically a 15-20% increase in groundspeed? Won't whistle down the field, but will help to get through the mud.

Depends on what you are combining. A 13 foot head in our typical wheat yields will keep an F2 full, but soybeans, you"ll have to speed up. I have a K2 that a 10 foot head is all she wants in 90 bu. wheat, but in 40 bu. beans I could probably go all the way to a 15 foot head.
