hello every body.
I just aquired a model 65 combine at an auction sale for $5.00 the machine is in beutiful conditon other than the fact that the drive belt is missing. I was just wondering what years these were produced. I had assumed they were ment to be pulled by an 820 or 830 but I see that it requires 1000 rpm pto. 4020 would seem a little big no? Also, does anyone know where to find a seperator drive belt as it seems that john deere has discontinued it. thanks in advance

The 65 was introduced in 1949, 2 years after the 55 self-propelled. It ceased production in the late '60's. The first ones were strictly engine powered. Sometime in the middle years of production they were offered either as engine drive or PTO, with PTO only in the final years.

I would also reccommend JDV belts in Willoughby, Ohio. It might cost $200+ though. I"m pretty sure the 65 was introduced in 1952 and I think production contined to around 1960. Obviously yours is a pto model and in the manual I have it is connected to a 720. A 4020 might be too big but ya never know. The engine type runs about 55 hp, so you might be ok. All I can say is not a bad deal for $5!!

JayDee Enterprises has been a good source of hard-to-find belts for my old equipment. www.jdv-belts.com
