We're going to try to get a Combine operating again. Anyone have any hints on starting the Diesel Engine. Its outside and hasn't be running for 5 years.

I would try prelubeing the engine. I started an old crawler loader many years ago by first draining the oil and then using an air powered barrel pump and pumped the oil under pressure into the engine's oil pressure gallery. I kept checking the oil level with the dipstick and when it was full, I stopped the pump. Oil pressure registered on the tractor's gauge. You run the chance of a dry start since it has been sitting for 5 years. On turboed engines you knock out the turbo's bearings and on both turboed and non turboed you may see very shiny spots on the crankshaft bearing inserts. This means localized heating and you came very close to the melting point.
