If I want to store my combine over the winter/summer with the corn head on (still moving a lot of stuff around in shed as wiring happen, etc. is there any harm in leaving the head up?

Seems like it would be better at keeping rodents out of machine, but didn't know if a couple months of constant pressure on hydraulics could possibly hurt anything.

Set your head down on some blocks and take the hydraulic pressure off the system. It will be easier on the seals in your cylinders.

Just set the head down, back off a foot or so, then raise the feederhouse and set the safety stop. When you need to move the head, you'll be lined right up to hook up.
Unless you hang the combine from the ceiling, the mice will still find away to get in. I leave every possible door or cover open and run the machine every few weeks to keep them from setting up shop.

I've found mothballs or flakes help to keep them out of the cab. I remove some displays in the Gleaner headliner and put them behind the units.
