Trying to get everything I need for my 140 in one trip! I have the right number for the mule drive belt but the number for the deck belt I think is a M41668. I'm sure this deck isn't the one that came on the tractor because it has the front wheels on the deck and I don't think they ever came on a 140. There is a number on the deck, M00596X followed by the serial number but I couldn't find this on the JD parts site. I know the deck belt on it now came from the local hardware so it very well not be right but it measures 96 1/2" and the idler spring isn't very tight at all. The M41668 crosses to a 98" True Blue belt and that seems like it may be too long??

Does the M00596X number help at all and if so, what would be the JD belt number for this deck?

Thanks!

Is it a 38", 48" or 50" deck?

If your blades measure just over 16", it is a Model "48" deck. Use parts catalog PC1069.

The M41668 belt is supposed to fit the 48" deck, and is 98.1" long.

Is the idler arm free to move? Do you have the correct spring, or has it been "farmerized"?

Thanks Bob.

It is a 48" but I think they only cut 46" or something. Everything looks the same as the picture you posted and I think the spring I have is th right one. I think I "farmerized" the deck belt that is on it now and it measures 96 1/2" and doesn't seem too short at all but it might have a lot of wear in it too. It needs replaced because of a few very deep cracks and I'm not going to buy a cheapo belt this time. I more than likely paid a lot for this one but I was in a rush and just grebbed it from the local store off of their belt wall. I'm thinking if the factory belt is only 1 1/2" longer, it should work fine and a new belt shouldn't ride as deep in the pulleys.

Yeah, you're right. They are a "Model 48", but, due to blade overlap only cut about 46".
