Does anyone know of a cheap replacement fuel pump for a JD 445? Deere wants $350.00 and that is not going to happen.

Do you have power at the pump? Keep in mind you'll need to cycle the key, as it only runs for a few seconds.

Thanks Guys, The pump doesn`t run at all, the fuse is OK, I haven`t gotten to the tank yet because it has a cab on it. I will check the connections before I pull the pump(not My tractor and He will not spend 350.00 on the pump, but would spend 4500.00 on a different one!) Hey He is 85 and i`ll do what he wants. How do you know the pump is bad? What do you have for regulated fuel pressure? How about unregulated? Should be 25-27 reg, about 50 unregulated.

As noted by others, there's a small pickup tube which can go bad. Also, do you have power to the pump? It won't be continuous power, just for about 2 seconds when you cycle the key.

That is a high pressure pump that is in the tank, so I think it is going to be hard to find a generic replacement. He is not overcharging you on price, they sell for $350.00. As the other guy inquired, did you check connection, pick up. The local dealer I use does not stock that pump, so I assume it is not a high use item, so you might want to check everything out a little closer. But, you will have to get a high pressure pump, for fuel injection, or it will not run right, so if you decide to try to find one cheaper, make sure you know what you are getting, because after you install it, it is yours, so it may be cheaper for you to cough up the 350.00, if it is actually the pump.

Question Have u pulled the pump an looked at it
Theres a short rubber hose inbetween the pump and the sender unit
On early units these sometimes come off
Also to have u checked the fuse
It has a fuse its kinda hard to find it behind an under radiator i believe on left side of tractor
Its a red fuse with tape over top of it
Ive seen these either blow or get coroded an u loose currnt to pump
I would check these things first before condeming the pump
I work for a jd dealer an ill check price on a pump
I dont remember them costing that much
I think ur dealer is taking u for a ride
Good Luck Gary

That engine is throttle body fuel injected, and Deere calls this a "high pressure" in-tank fuel pump.

I DO NOT know what the fuel pressure is supposed to be on this thing. If you can find that out, and go to an auto parts store and get them to let you take a peek at a Carter or Airtex catalog, they will have a section that lists the operating pressure ranges of their various replacement in-tank fuel pumps, and you MAY be able to match something up that way.

A generic pump will probably be $125.00 to $175.00.
