What is the difference between a 16HP and 18HP opposed cylinder Briggs engine? Was told the carb was the only difference. Is this correct? Thanks for any help, 400SC

Depending on the age of them, probably nothing. The Briggs opposed 16-19.5 are the same engine. The only difference is how fast Briggs ran the engine when they dynoed it to get the HP rating. They also share the feature that pretty much all parts are no longer available. Briggs stopped supporting these engines in an effort to get people to switch over to the V design 2 cyl engine.
