third party imageHey everyone,

I purchased a John Deere LA110 very recently and have been experiencing tremendous difficulty engaging the PTO. I have been asking advice on other forums and may need to take it back to my John Deere provider. But, I wanted to ask all of you.

First, the 110 has one lever for the Clutch and Throttle. I engage the lever fully to the top, turn the key, and then slowly bring the lever back to the "run" notch which is almost dead center. I let it run for a moment (warm up) and then attempt to engage the PTO - it will cut out virtually every time. I have tried keeping my foot on the break, letting it run longer, taking my foot off the break, etc. It's so frustrating - what am I doing wrong?
I may not be engaging the PTO correctly. When the service man dropped it off, he ran through the functionality pretty quickly, and I've never owned a lawn tractor before.

Since the break is also the clutch, do I take my foot immediately off the break/clutch pedal as soon as it turns over, and while I'm moving the lever to the center notch? Do I keep my foot on the pedal longer? There is by the way only one notch or indent for the lever to securely set into which is within the Rabbit range and what I've been told is full throttle. Below that is run. third party image

Am I engaging the PTO incorrectly?
Kindest regards,
Ferdy

Make sure it's not in reverse.

Sounds like a possible failure with the safty switch. Somethins they just wont let you run the blades, but run the thing perfactally. If that fails, get a Ford since thay look cooler and you allready have to Fix Or Repair Daily your deere.

Ferdy. Make sure your weight is fully in the seat to close the seat safety switch. If you are sliding forward to hold the clutch/brake in you may be opening the seat switch.
