I have a craftsman mower that has just over 1000 hours on it. The hydro has worked fine until 2 days ago. When I push on it to go forward or backward there is a jumping sound in the hydro and it will hardly pull me up any grade. It doesn't sound or act like gears jumping, more like some type of relief valve or such. I added a bit more oil to it but that didn't help any. Could anyone help on this issue. Thanks.

Kent, Thank you for your reply. I am not surprised by your answer because I know most of those hydros are not meant to be rebuilt. I found a new one in a crate on E-bay for $405, but don't know if the mower is worth that. Again thanks.

Cheap hydro. No way to add oil. When you have a problem you have to replace as the repair cost is more than replacment. These hydros ARE NOT the quaility of the 140 JD'S or the 50 series Cub Cadets of 20 to 40 years ago.
