I have an old simplicity lawn tractor that i would like to convert to a racing mower. I pretty much know what to do, but does anyone have any tips of how to free up more power?

Check racing tractor board. Otherwise also check where you plan to race- maybe rules about engine mods. But try the basics first- get engine for class size and basic rebuild with a tweak- polish ports, plane head .010 or so to raise compression a little, match carb to port/gasket, open exhauzt as rules allow- read of a couple places that had noise restrictions in zoning so required muffler. Crank check, oilflow from pump is better usually than splash lube. Governor adjust or disconnect, stronger valve springs for higher RPM. have fun, save the old mower parts. ROPS required couple tracks i've seen. RN

Yep! Install a Ford 60 H.P. V/8 with clutch, transmission, and a Mopar rear end/ differential, using cut down axles and housings, and wheels! You"ll need the U-joint and related parts from the "49 Ford trucks along with the truck bell-housing! No rad needed, except maybe a small tank, mounted in the front of the grille! Assemble all that carefully, and i guarantee it will stand up and paw at the air! By: Rusty Jones
