I have a friend who has what I think is a Cub Cadet model 1600, 16hp Briggs with a real noisey transaxle. Can any one tell me where I can find a good used or a reasonably priced new transaxle for this mower? It's in real nice shape except for this problem.

Thanks, Bruce in Indiana

Just in case you didn't know that C. C. is a MTD. MTD owns (Cub Cadet is MTD) Cub Cadet. Cub is just the Cadilac line of lawn mowers. David

Thanks David for the reply... yes, I knew they were related but wasn't sure if they were owned by MTD or what. It sounds like that gives me another place to hunt for a good used transaxle. The guy at the CC dealer said the axles weren't very heavy and wasn't surprised. Thanks again Bruce

That is the same style transaxle that MTD uses in their lawn tractors, so you might have him look on the tranny for a part nuber, then he can look for that number out of an MTD and find one, but he might also check the idlers and vari drive pully, that is more common problem than a transmission in MTD products and as I said this is the same drive system MTD uses in a lot of their tractors.

Thanks for the info JT. I got a quote from a Cub Cadet dealer today of $375 for a complete unit. Do you know of any place I might be able find a used one? Thanks again. Bruce
