Hi, I have a Craftsman Lawn Tractor from 2002 with a 42" deck, and a 22hp Briggs and Stratton Engine. Recently my son has been using it to cut the lawn, but he never checked the oil, so it was running for a while with no oil. The engine now makes a loud knocking noise as soon as you start it up. Just wondering if there is anything to do about that? Any recommendations, or would it just be worth it to buy a new tractor, as much as I would hate to.

u could replace those connecting rods in it but id be more concerned about the crankshaft being scarred from the lack of oil.the journals on that crankshaft if scored to bad may cause you to have to replce it.but id get a price for the rods gasket set and a crankshaft and see how much money your gonna have to invest.or u may want to invest that money toward a new mower.hows the mower other than that.if its still in good shape its yrs old is it worth repairing.it would be a fun little project .good luck don.
