I know this forum is for old garden tractors but thought I should post this. Bought a new Simplicity Champion zero turn, Was delivered this morning. Went to mow lawn, worked fine. Went to mow my mound system (and surrounding rolling hills). All of a sudden the mower wouldn't steer, hardly any power, motor was running fine. Parked it and called the dealer. Of course they closed early today because of the holiday. I let the mower sit all afternoon and went back to my old JD. After sitting all afternoon went to put it away and it runs fine. It was 80 degrees here today and it looks the Hydros overheated and basically shut down. Won't handle the hills I guess. The next step up in mowers is a ZTR with fans on the hydros. But that's called a commercial model. Curious to see what the dealer says on Tuesday. Mower doesn't work if it can't take slopes. A mound system isn't that steep and neither are the hills around it. Just wondering if I made a mistake with a zero turn. I asked the dealer about hills and he said this mower was made for that. Sorry about the long post. Any comments? Thanks!
