Hi Bill. You responded to a post of mine a few weeks ago.... I have a 62 702 Wheel Horse and have trouble with the transaxle locked up. I did like you suggested and pulled the shift lever out and checked the position of the shifter forks to make sure it wasn't going into two gears at once... both shift forks are centered. Here is an unusual note... the drive pulley on the right side of the transaxle will rotate slightly more than 360 degrees in either direction before locking up... makes no difference what gear it's in. Sounds like whatever gear it's turning is hanging up on something. I don't know the history of how it came to be this way as it was given to me by my brother in law shortly before he died of cancer. Thanks for any info you may have. Merry Christmas!!

Bruce,
One thing to check first is the woodruff key in input shaft pulley , make sure it is not slipping or sheared. If this woodruff key is OK then you have to remove the transmission and open the case. Put the transmission in a vise (hold in the vise by the right case half), then remove the left axle hub and brake drum and remove the six case bolts. Let m eknow what you find out.

Thanks for the info Bill. I did look at that pulley/shaft and I didn't see any thing amiss. Probably gonna have to come apart. I had another local guy tell me that a 5 gallon pail worked well for disassembly as well. Do you know where I can get a manual or at least an exploded view of the transaxle? Thanks again,
