Does anyone know anything about Ford LGT 165"s. I was given one recently. Kohler K 341 engine with hydrostatic drive. Replaced carb & it runs pretty good. How reliable / powerful are these tractors?

I have one, just bought it Oct 2004. Not sure of the year, has side panels, around 1980 or so. Lots of power. We have the 2 stage blower, cab, tiller and 50" mower deck. Blows snow great, used the tiller a few times, it worked good, have not used the mower deck yet, but am sure it will be fine. Always needs some tinkering, but thats the fun of having an older tractor. My son and I love playing with tractors. There are some pictures of the Ford and some of our other tractors in the Garden Tractor Galleries page under name Tim Doiron

I've got one of the later models with the side panels and I love it. Tough as nails and plenty of power. Parts can be elusive and/or expensive, but eBay usually has some. There's also a great Yahoo group on Ford/Jacobsen tractors. (Jacobsen built these for Ford.)

Good solid tractors; built by Jacobsen. Yahoo! has a great site for Jacobsen/Ford tractors.

I have had a Ford LGT 165 for 8 years and I love it! This mover is build like a Sherman tank! Sure it needs a little work from time to time, but it has lasted longer than most new lawn mowers do. I have one of the older models that was built in the early 70's with the inline hyd. filter. Those are not cheep and hard to find. I will try to find the lines and filter base to convert it to a spin on type next time. Keep it running!
