my neighbor is quite old and wants to sell me his old Cadet. It has no model # on it, only a big decal that says International. Has the iron seat with the steel spring and no fenders and narrow tires. The old guy says he thinks he bought it in 1960 and he still uses it. What should I offer him?

I just bought a 1967 cub 122.It came with the mower deck, snowblade ,chains and wheel weights. The Weights were not IH.In good to better shape. The only real problem was it needed a new seat and a tune up.I paid $250 .I think it was a very good buy.I bought it from a guy I've known for many years and he set the price.

I would think that if it still runs good and looks good and he is a nice neighbor....and you dont want to offend him then do what these other guys say. Look up the IHregistry and see the year model # and all stuff. You may have to offer him a few hundred bucks, I am assuming that this thing is not the cub lowboy, but a yard tractor.

BigDiesel: 1961 was the first year for the Cub Cadets. Look on the right side of the tractor (as you set on the seat) roughly below the shifter, and you should find a hand-stamped serial number going up-and-down. Go to IHregistry.com, and you can match it up with the year. Price on these varies widely depending on condition, options, etc.--I"ve got two, and paid $150 each, but I"ve seen many trade hands for much less, and a few go for several hundred dollars if they"re rare or well-preserved. They are an excellent little tractor--tough as nails, easy to work on, and with good parts availability.

Probably a CC original. Value would vary widely depending on condition. Might look on eBay to see what a similar condition tractor has been selling for.

Yeah, an OCC with like a 670 something number was just on there very nicely restored and the owner couldn't even get a $899 bid on it. What a shame.
