I overhauled the 38" deck on my Cub 1320, and it still cuts poorly. While leveling the deck I noticed that the blades were at different heights in the deck. When I turn eack blade and gague it against the other the offset is the same. From the top of the deck I ran a straight edge across both pulleys and everything looks straight. I also checked the runout on the spindles using a tape measure against the shaft and it appears straight. Any suggestions> I was thinking that maybe I could shim the spindle housing, but that seems like a shoddy fix. Any sugestions? Thanks.

On the rebuild did you put in any new spindles? Is the deck bent anywhere? Are both blades the same or bent? Was it that way befor the rebuild?

I"m the second owner so I don"t know what the history before I got it was. The deck never cut well, it always had a low spot at the edge of the path. I replaced the bearings, seals and bearing spacers in the spindle housings but not the spindles themselves, I also replaced the idler pulley which was sticking a little bit. The drive pulley and bearings were replaced a couple of years ago so I didn"t replace them. It looks as if the deck took a good hit in the front because the flat part at the front of the deck is bent up on one side. Can I straighten it? Is so how? Thanks for the reply.
