I just overhauled the 38" deck on my Cub 1320 and need to level it, but my garage floor has a pitch. It drops about 1/4" in 19". The manual says the begin on a level surface. Can I just ignore the requirement and assume that everything is headed in that direction anyway, or somehow compensate for the slope.

As long as floor is steady, consistant drop you should be safe as tractor will be on level plane to floor. Otherwise you can set tractor on planks (running front to back) and level them to use as measuring point.

To help in deck levelling, for about $7.00 go to a JD dealer and buy a tool for measuring blade height. I have one, its a very handy tool to have, no more getting out the tape measure.
