no power when I turn the key

I have a 91 Bolens with a 14hp twin cylinder vanguard motor. The starter went so I replaces the starter. When I turned the key I had no power at all. I replaced the solenoid and still nothing. I can jump the solenoid to fire the tractor, but no power from the key.

Also it has a electronic pto for the blades. After I"ve mowed for awhile, and I turn the switch off, when I turn it back on the blades will not turn on.

Any help on either would be greatly appreciated!!

Take the solenoid apart. Could be corroded. Also check your ground. Check anything you took loose while installing the new starter. What made you think your old starter was bad? Did you try to spin it with two wires after you took it off to make sure that it was bad? The problem you describe could have been your problem all along.

i think it is your key switch. but through trial and error the best way is to unplug you switches and put a jumper wire in its place.if tractor starts the problem lies in A switch. 1 by 1 hook the switches back up and try starting tractor again repeat until switch is found good luck

Sounds like the PTO safety switch is bad, but I'd check the seat, and the brake/clutch safety switches also.
If one or more of these switches is/are bad it might lead you to believe that the starter or solenoid is bad, however it's been my expereince that starters seldom go bad.
Do you happen to have a schematic for the electrical(starting) circuit?
Might want to learn how this circuit works, could possibly save alot of money on starters.

Sounds like one of the safety switches. There are probrably about 3 or 4 of them. Start checkin them with a multimeter.
