My son has a 147 cub ser#2050041U339945. Motor # K231A as far as I can make out, spec #6099A. Neither my son nor I know any thing about Cubs.Any info would be greatly appreciated. As far as we know the motor is shot, rod maybe. Where could we get a replacement motor and/or what motors would fit it? Many THANKS in advance BG

I agree, that the least expensive way to get a motor back in your cub is to rebuild, if that is possible. If you are seeking a Replacement motor, make sure you have the Exact Kohler Model and a Spec Number that was issued to Cub Cadet. The Spec Number will determine a number of things, but most importantly, it will determine the diameter and length of the crankshaft for the PTO to meet Cub Cadet Specifications. You could have the same model number and the crank would be wrong and would fit something else (ie: John Deere). There are many places out on the web to find replacement motors, and a few are: Tulsa Engine Warehouse, or Small Engine Warehouse. Again, make sure that the Kohler Spec number was used for Cub Cadet.

BG....

Your cub has a 14hp kohler motor. The 147= 14hp, 7= hydrostatic...cub 147...Any of the K 300 series
will fit your 147...K301 (12hp)... K321 (14hp)... and the K341 (16hp). The cheapest way to go is to overhaul the one you have if the block isn't torn up. You can always search around and find a used one, but they are usually spendy, and if you happen to find a new old stock one, they usually run very high dollar. The good news is, if you can overhaul it yourself, they are very easy to rebuild, overhaul kits and parts are very avaliable, and it doesn't cost a whole lotta money to do it....good luck...

You also need to make sure you are getting a engine model with an "A" at the end of it. that is the only engine style and pan that will fit Cub Cadet. New K321A spec # 60221 Cub Cadet repalcement engine would cost you $1095.95 plus shipping. then you would have to take you Str-Gen off your old engine and put on the new one. If you need one, let me know. I would sell you one for $995.00 plus freight.
