What is significant about the Kohler "Magnum" designation? Stronger designed engine?

Just got done rebuilding both the M18 and KT17. The KT17 has splash lubrication for the connecting rods but pressure lube to the main bearings. The M18 has a drilled crankshaft and has pressure feed to the connecting rods and has a different design piston than the KT17. The M18 also has a larger oil pump and every one I have seen has an external oil filter.

Wally G.,

The KT-17 series II had the drilled crank for rod oiling as well, and ALL series II engines were set up to be able to use an oil filter. In some applications, the filter was not used, and a bypass plate was installed, but that could be removed, and a filter base installed, if desired.

It continued the pressure oiling of the KT series II, and had electronic ignition.
