We have a (very used) White L-12 Lawn Tractor. The Transmission belt broke and we had a friend replace both belts (Main Drive and Mowing Deck). After he worked on it we later discovered that the engine doesn't charge the battery any more.

With the engine running the lights can be turned on, but with the engine stopped the lights don't work.

The horn works with engine either running or not.
Something got disconnected. The generator puts out 12 volts and the battery can be externally charged, but the charging current is not getting to the battery.

My question: Where can I get a wiring diagram for this tractor?

Thanx!!!

Some lawn and garden tractors have a dual section alternator stator. One half of the alternator is ONLY for the lights there for the lights only work when the engine is running. The other half charges the battery. Use a digital voltmeter to chech your battery voltage while the engine is running. If the voltage is above 12.6 and is increasing the battery is charging.

You can go to your local dealer and see if they'll make you a copy or buy service manual. Changes belts shouldn't have effected the charging system any. Maybe look at all your wires closely - you may have one that's gotten broken.
