The model 60, I think, was first made in '65 but I'm not sure how long it was before the 70 came along. I think 70's were made in the late 60's. A 70 had a 7 hp Tecumseh vertical shaft engine, and a gear driven, 3 spd cast iron Peerless transaxle. Irv

Their is a small lever on the right side of the tractor as you sit on it? What is that for?

If its up on the side of the cowl, it mechanically engages the clutch for the deck. The clutch is a tapered cone affair with the cup side on the motor and a cone that has a v-velt pulley made right in it on the bottom. There is a stub shaft in a bearing mounted on the bottom of the cone( drive pulley) that straddles a bar thats links to the handle you saw. When you over center the lever it raises the clutch up and engages the deck. Golllll y, clear as mud ain't it. < grin > Hope this helps.
