Hi all, I have aquired a Simplicity Broadmoore III, I believe it was manufactured in 1979. Anyway, we bought a new house, and i had this one and a Lawn chief sitting in the back garage. I was trying to figure out which one I should get working. (being that I only had a push mower, and two acres to mow i needed one of them) So i figured getting the simplicity going would be more worth while. So, I cleaned it up, bought a new battery, and sprayed some starter fluid in the carb and she fired right up! So i started mowing the lawn and worked great for about an hour, then, i started to notice this sudden power loss, especially when you engaged the blades, then it started just doing it idle-full power, then would start to stutter, then die out. I check gas, gas was good, no loose wires or anything.

So i messed around with it for a bit, and found that if i start it up with full choke, fires right up, but if i push it back in to normal, it will die. If i leave it on full choke, runs great. Whats the deal here? So, just trying to figure out whats causing this, i assume something with the carb.

On a second note, i washed her down before putting her away after mowing the lawn, and when i went to turn the key off, i was shocked (well more like nipped) but enough to notice. I am pretty sure it had something to do with water sill being on the deck/frame. Well thanks for any info!

Be carful when you wash the mower, water will stand around the bearings in the deck and will rust out the deck as well as the bearings.

Hello, If the mower was sitting awhile and it was either outside or sitting for awhile, check the gas tank and make sure there is no rust or dirt in the way of the fuel opening. I had the same problem with a Ford 120, it had a small screen in the tank and was clogged with rust and debris.

As far as manuals go you can goto the simplicity web site>Link
make>Link sure you have the serial number and model number. If they don't have your manual online(pdf format) then you can call them and get the manual shipped to you. This worked for me with a 1968 yoeman.

Good luck.

If you still have trouble go to: Simpletractors.com
It's the web site for the Simplicity/Allis Garden Tractor Club. Lots of help there.
