We have a 1998 New Holland LS35 Lawn Tractor - I see this site deals with antiques - it's no antique, but it has a problem ... the engine runs but we can't get any response from the brake or the "accelerator" (foot operated hydrostatic). My husband is checking it out but doesn't want to tear it all apart if someone has some ideas on what might be the cause. We would appreciate any thoughts, suggestions of manuals or other sites that may help. Thanks!

the lack of movement could be a few things: 1- are the brakes releasing? in some hydros, the brakes (linkage) being on puts the trans in neutral state. this is to avoid damage of brakes on and attempting movement 2- is the freewheel valve engaged? this allows the trans to freewheel to make it easy to push when not running. 3- is the trans belt damaged? this will cause no action. these are the easy checks. if they all check out, time to see the shop.

Thanks for the suggestions - we'll check it out! Hopefully won't need a trip to the shop.
