On the really old ones it has a tag under the dash. On newer ones on the left side of the steering/dash tower down low.

Thanks for the response but there is no plate on the tractor. It has been removed. There is a amp guage in the center of the dash and the tank is made into the top of the dash. It looks like a 701. Any other way to tell?

A 701 used a plastic dash panel and a belt guard with no indentation for a model number decal , a 1962 model will have metal dash with a one peice gas tank and a 1963 model will have a two piece gas tank . A 1964 could have a two piece tank or a separate tank mounted to the hood stand These early models had a serial number on the shift decal (except 1961 701), another way to tell the differance is by the number of tie rods used in the steering . 1961 and 1962 used only one tie rod and 1963 and 1964 used two . There was several models made by Wheel Horse that had the aluminum gas tank including the smaller Lawn Ranger series . Post a good discription of the tractor and I can identify it for you .
