JD111 into a JD112

I recently bought a JD 111 that had a weak B&S engine, I wasn't concerned because I had a 12 hp B&S sitting around that wasn't doing anything useful. After making all the nessecary modifications and hooking all the wires back I came across the connection for the coil and realized that I was connecting a 1 wire connector from the solenoid to a two wire connector from the coil itself. I have tried many variations to the connection including making a the single wire connect to the double wire. I guess if I'm right, that perhaps one of the double wire feed needs to be grounded though. Basically right now I can't crank the tractor at all and am wondering if this may be the holdup.
