This isn't a garden tractor but it is small engine related so I thought maybe one of you guys could help. I'm trying to rig up a throttle cable on a mini-bike (for a very impatient boy) with a 3.5 hp Briggs. It appears I will need to fabricate a little arm to attach to the throttle (disconnect governor)so I will get enough motion for the travel in the twist grip. It seems there ought to be an easier way, but the local Briggs dealer says this is the only way. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

DEPENDING ON THE AGE OF THE RIDER (THE PERSON) YOU MAY WANT TO KEEP THE GOVERNOR IN PLACE,IT MAY KEEP THE ENGINE RUNNING LOTS LONGER. BUT LIKE GREG SAID LET US KNOW WHAT KIND OF GOVERNOR IT HAS RIGHT NOW, I'M SURE IT WON'T TAKE MUCH DOING.

I sent the model number to Greg. Also I ordered a catalog from Kartworld in Ohio (found them on the Internet) because I'm thinking to put a jackshaft on it to reduce the speed.

Please send me model, type and code as there are several variations of the 3.5hp B&S engine. I'm a Briggs dealer too and I have rigged up many go carts and mini bikes. This engine has a mechanical gov, right? Not an air vane? Also do you have the origional gov, arms and likages. Send reply to Greg e mail stk12240@loki.stockton.edu
