I just picked up a Cub Cadet 125. IT doesn't run but seems pretty straight and tight the engine spins over. Do these have any known problems I should look for??? What years were they made?? thanks

Howdy... You can find a serial number chart at the link here and look up when yours was made. It was part of the model line that included the 72, 104, 105, 124, 125.

It'll probably be pretty easy to get going. Check for spark at the plug. If you have that, try a few drops of gas in the plug hole. If she wants to fire up, then you'll have to go through the carb and fuel system and/or replace the head gasket (they liked to blow when owners did not do the 500-hour decarbon maintenance).

If you replace the head gasket, use some 260 wet or dry sandpaper on a flat surface and slide the head on it til the gasket surface is shiny all around. If you can't get it shiny all around, the head is warped and needs to be replaced.

Good reliable tractors, I think you'll like it. I mow weekly with a 124 (gear version of yours). Bought it not running...all I did was change the head gasket and start in using it.

Hope this helps...
Jim
