After three weeks of hangine up on my fork lift forks I finally got the parts to repair the transmission on an 8000 series Gravely tractor. I had taken pictures of the transmission as I took it down as this is the firs and I can assure this is the last Gravely transmission I will ever tackle. I had a time finding the parts and getting them here.

Richard's outdoor service in WV did a great job however of getting them to me when I finally did find him.

I think I dropped a woodruff key and it will go in reverse and not in forward. GRRRRR !

I too have a Gravely with trans trouble. Mine is an 8163B. Nice machine, 16HP Briggs engine. The PTO for the blade won't come out of gear, so mower deck blades are always turning. Friendly Gravely dealer said it was a $700.00 job to repair!! That's O.K.. I do want to sell it if anyone is interested. It has a snow plow and wheel weights ,too. Phil

Yeah, they are a hassle, I have an 800 series tranny and it is a hassle to repair. had to replace the clutch on a friends before and put a gear in backwards, and when he mowed with it it ran backwards! I must admit they do run well when they work (or havent been messed up by your neihbor, who just happens to be the only certified Gravely mechanic in Stafford County)

Yes, but you must admit, when it was working it worked great and lasted quite a while. Couldn't say that about the box retailer tractor.
