Murray deck adjustment

I just bought a used Murray GT 18hp briggs...46" cut. I cannot get the deck level. It scalps on the left side and is high in the back. The left front corner of the deck has been crunched and the metal is torn away for about 8-12" around the bottom. I just priced a new deck shell, but this has solid metal except for the torn place. Is there some secret for adjusting these bad boys?

I adjusted it by the instruction the Murray faxed me and it didn't help. I guess I need to do some measuring and more looking....

I had the same problem with a old murry , ended up being a bent blade . It did`nt look bad till I compared it real close with the other . If they whamed the deck it could have bent one .

Do as scooterhead suggests. But if the deck is in that bad shape it is hard to get measurements as murray sez. I usually checked the L&R measurements by setting both blades cross wise and measure from the outer tips. Front of deck should be slightly lower.

This is a 3-blade 46". I set according to factory instructions and it still won't cut right. I'm going to buy a new deck shell. I think this must have a twist to it, The blades and quills are new, and the blades seem to be in the same plane.
