When I got my Roto-Hoe many years ago I read about optional weights being available, but I never saw any. I really didn't see a need for them, but I suppose a balance weight in the front would make the rear tiller easier to lift. It would not be hard to hang some iron on the front, to see how you like it. If the weight helps, brackets could be made to hook onto the frame just like the tiller attachment mounts on the back. I have a snow thrower attachment that mounts that way.

Be real careful of oil level in the engine. I blew my original engine tilling very deep and putting the unit on quite an angle. Apparently the oil level was a little low and the rod blew. A costly mistake. I upgraded to a 10 horse engine and also enlarged the engine pulley. It does not wear out a belt in an afternoon now due to slippage and turns the tines faster. Nothing has broken, but shin guards made out of PVC sewer pipe are a must! It really fires the rocks out of there. Good luck and have fun.

I use to sell the Roto Tiller and it seems like they were just flat plates that bolted directly to the front of the tiller frame. I also owned one and mounded the weight plates on it. I put enough were I could lift the back of the tiller with one fingure. It worked just fine. If you hit a rock or some other object it would just flip up and settle right back down to work. That is if you didn't try and force it in the ground and just guided it along. Sorry but that's all the help I can give you since Roto Hoe is long gone. Later Butch
