I'm building a forklift that will drive in the grass without getting stuck...I have all the parts that I need... My question is .....
What would happend if I run the transmission from a wheelhorse backwards. Are they designed to be run in one direction only... Would they have a week spot or jump out of gear easyer or not get the oil they need...
The transmission I have faceing the drive pullie turn counter clockwise...If I turn it clockwise I will have the three speeds forwards that I need...
The stearing will be in the back.
Someone out there that works on these for a living should know the answer....
Thanks everyone...This is a super message board...

Beitz ,
Sounds like a neat idea ! Here is what I would do ,the mid sixty's Unidrive transmission had a longer fill pipe in their six speeds . It was just a two inch pipe nipple with a pipe conector , which made the oil level higher . This would take care of the oiling problem . Use a good brand of 85-140 weight oil in the transmission you may have to reengineer the shifter BUT don't make it too long so it is hard on the forks . Bill in Richmond ,Va.
P.S. With all them engines you got do you have a extra oil bath air cleaner for a Kohler K-90 engine that will work in a Wheel Horse (it hung down wards) ?

I can't claim to be a Wheel Horse expert, but I'd think if you switched the ring gear in the differential to the other side of the pinion, you could run the transmission in the correct direction and still get to "go backwards" as your forward direction. I'm planning to do that with a Cub Cadet project I'm scheming on now.
