Have a Cub 1811 with Kohler M18S 18Hp. Engine starts fine, when mower is engaged experiencing stalling, cutting out when climbing small inclines or when turning. Seems to have no power when mowing. Have checked air filter, cap vent, replaced plugs and still no better. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks!

Hey Jim the easiest way to check if you have a dead cylider is to feel for heat at the exhaust manifold or cooling fins. With the engine stone cold, start it up and feal around the fins and exhaust manifold where it comes out of the block.
Use some common sense those areas get hot pretty fast. But if you can hold your finger on it, that side is dead. I've seen a bad mag do this but more often than not It's a popped valve seat. If your firing on both sides check the fuel pump
[bad diaphram or bad impulse hose]

I know this sounds odd but in many instances the Magnum 18 with a fouled spark plug will do exactly that. The engine may fire on both cylinders under no-load conditions but only run on one cylinder when being worked. Harder to hear than you may think. I'd start with 2 fresh spark plugs and go from there.
