I have A 62 Fordson Dexta with a 3 cylinder Prekins Diesel. How difficult is it to convert to 12 negative ground?

Your 62 Dexta is 12 volts. The diesels used two 6 volt batteries in series one under the hood and one on the left stepboard. Useing 2 - 6volt batteries in series gives you 12 volts. The reason for useing 6 volt batteries is a 6volt battery has longer cranking power than a 12 volt battery. A 12 volt battery has lots of cranking power but it goes dead quick on hard starting days where as the 6 volt will keep on cranking Just remember the Dexta is Positive Ground, and its easier to leave it that way.

Hope this helps Kevin

If you use a Delco car type with internal regulator it's simple. Put a Chrysler type resistor inline to the ignition terminal on the alt, hook up the battery feed to the bat terminal, and just put the battery in for neg ground, turn the wires around on your amp gage or it will be showing discharge when it's charging
I've got a 64 Dexta it came 12V, I thought a 62 was 12V too. Live and learn I guess.

I went and dug the book out to be sure. Your tractor was supposed have a 12V already. If it's got a 6V in it that's the problem.

Hello, I have a John Deere model 40 Postive ground 6 volt, with a generator. I wont to change over to a 12 volt negtive ground with a altenator. Do you have a wiring diagram so I can do this? Thank You.

You are correct, all Dexta's were OEM 12 Volt.
