I have today bought the Fordson Power Major that I have asked questions on and received your assistance with. Many thanks.

On the side of the engine block are the numbers:

E1ADKN6015

Is this the engine number, and is it possible to determine the year from this information?

Saturday I will drive it 30Km to home and look forward to restoring it and using it well.

That number is the part number for the block. The engine number is supposed to be on the pad just below the number one injector pipe but I see your in australia, so you will find your engine number near the starter motor below the air filter on the flange where the trans bolts up. There will also be a black build plate "Ford Motor Company of Australia" that will have a date on it. This can be found to the rear of the rocker cover on the fire wall. This date is the Australia assembly date and will be about 4 months after the tractor build date.

Where are you in Aust. I am in Gisborne Victoria and I have a Super Major and a Super Dexta.

Thanks Steven. I am in Donnybrook, about 30Km east of Bunbury in south west WA. I will now have the Major, my neighbour has a Dexta. When we bought our block we had the option of buying the Dexta but ran out of funds. It's a shame, because the Dexta came with scraper and carry all, the Major comes with nothing.

Graeme, I too live in SW WA-Collie in fact.I bought an early fifties diesel major four years ago with a badly worn engine, and its done a lot of hard work since and is still going strong. I intend to rebuild the engine when it dies, but it shows no sign of doing so yet.
If you are looking for second hand parts, Wilson Wrecking in Torbay (near Albany) can usually help.
They are very good to deal with.
